Cultivating Theater Artists
Aragon High School Drama strives to be a welcoming space for students to explore self expression through the arts of acting and technical theater. Shane Smuin, Aragon’s Director of Theater, believes that theater is a conservatory: a safe space where self expression and personal growth is cultivated, encouraged, and developed.
Aragon Drama’s course offerings include:
Beginning Drama:
In Aragon’s Beginning Drama class, students begin the process of self expression through theater games, monologues, scenes, published plays, and original projects.
This class is open to all students.
*Students interested in auditioning for main stage productions are highly encouraged to enroll in Beginning Drama.*
Advanced Drama:
In Advanced Drama, students deepen their understanding through advanced improvisational work, classical monologues and scripts.
Through our partnership with Silicon Valley TheatreWorks and their Young Playwright Project, students work with professional playwrights to write their own short plays culminating in an on-stage final performance by professional actors.
At the conclusion of the year, the students perform and produce a student-directed One-Act Musical.
This class is open to students who have completed Beginning Drama or have received permission from Mr. Smuin.
