Cultivating Theatre Artists

Aragon Drama strives to be a welcoming space for students to explore self expression through the arts of acting and technical theatre. Shane Smuin, Aragon Drama’s Artistic Director, believes that theatre is a conservatory – a safe space where self expression and personal growth is cultivated, encouraged, and developed.

Aragon Drama’s course offerings include:

Beginning Drama
In Aragon’s Beginning Drama class, students begin the process of self expression through theater games, monologues, scenes, published plays, and original projects.
This class is open to all students.
*Students interested in auditioning for main stage productions are highly encouraged to enroll in Beginning Drama.*

Advanced Drama:

In Advanced Drama, students deepen their understanding through advanced improvisational work, classical monologues and scripts. Students write short plays culminating in an on-stage final performance at the end of the season performed by students in the class. At the conclusion of the year, the students perform and produce a student-directed One-Act Musical. We celebrate the success of our program each year at our annual “Donnie Awards”.
This class is open to students who have completed Beginning Drama or have received permission from Mr. Smuin.

Technical Theatre:

In Technical Theatre, students learn practical hands-on skills and techniques for the creation of sets, designed by Set Designer Fred Eiras, for Aragon Drama’s mainstage productions. Through this process, they gain a deeper understanding of the technical and design elements of theatre.
*Students interested in doing crew for main stage productions are highly encouraged to enroll in Tech Theatre.*
This class is open to all students.
